Looking for an adventure? We’ve narrowed down some of our favorite road trip ideas to help make your child’s summer a memorable one!

HANDS-ON LEARNING

Atlanta Children’s Museum, Atlanta GA: Ideal for children up to age 8, this museum offers a massive, educational play space. Some features include a large play kitchen and diner, a faux fishing pond, a construction area equipped with blocks and pipes, a building lab, science lab and an art studio.

Center of Puppetry Arts, Atlanta GA: Enjoy this rare insiders look at the history of puppeteering with big names like Elmo, Kermit the Frog, Big Bird and more. After watching a show, children are given the opportunity to create their own puppet show and complete a craft to take home.

U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Huntsville AL: Home to the legendary Space Camp, Aviation Challenge and NASA’s Official Visitor Information Center for Marshall Space Flight Center; The U.S. Space & Rocket Center is one of the most comprehensive U.S. manned space flight hardware museums in the world. Visit this museum to see rockets, artifacts from the U.S. space program, view a film in a real iMAX 70mm theater and more.

Montgomery Zoo, Montgomery AL: This well-shaded zoo is a great experience for kids, allowing them to ride a train, feed a giraffe, pet stingrays and more. Plus, the zoo boasts a large playground and a beautiful indoor dining area that overlooks grazing animals. The zoo is also home to Mann Wildlife Learning Museum, which houses an extensive collection of large taxidermy animals. Guests are able to touch and feel the furs and antlers of some of the animals on display.

HEART-POUNDING ADVENTURE

Six Flags over Georgia, Austell GA: Six Flags is known for bringing a thrill, and their Atlanta location is no exception! This theme park is home to more than 40 rides including 11 roller coasters, three children’s areas, and thrill rides. Plus, the new Hurricane Harbor water park has water slides, a wave pool and an interactive water playground.

Fun Spot America, Fayetteville GA: Looking for a new spot for fun? Fun Spot offers over two dozen family attractions, thrill rides, 3 mini golf courses, fast-paced, go-kart tracks and fun for the whole family.

Andretti’s, Marietta GA: If you’re looking for an indoor adventure, this indoor carting and game center is the place to be. Experience laser tag, a ropes course, bowling, virtual reality and of course, go-cart racing experience inspired by famous racecar driver, Mario Andretti.

Medieval Times, Lawrenceville GA: Huzzah! Dine with the King and Queen and experience a two hour show with jousting, dancing horses, falconry and more! Will your knight be crowned victor?

KICK BACK AND RELAX

If you’re looking for the typical summer by the beach getaway, here are some of our favorite locations. Each of these beach towns offer dolphin tours, outdoor adventure rentals, snorkeling, fun parks, water parks and mini golf.

Panama City Beach: The people of Panama City Beach would like to remind you they’re open and awaiting your visit! Hurricane Michael can’t stop summer vacation. Besides the miles of beaches, check out Ripley’s Museum of oddities, Gulf World marine encounters and WonderWorks fun zone.

Savannah: Not only does Savannah have beautiful beaches, but it’s also home to some of the best historical tours in the country, UGA aquarium, the Children’s museum and more.  Visit Savannah for a trip your entire family will remember for a lifetime.

Gulf Shores:  Did you know Alabama is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the country? The Gulf Shores is also home to swamp sanctuary Alligator Alley and the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo has a sloth encounter that can be enjoyed by the entire family.
