One of the top spots for a fall retreat in the Chattahoochee Valley is Oakhurst Farm’s Fall Daze. Located only a half-hour outside of Columbus, Oakhurst is your one-stop destination for fall fun.
Fall Daze has the humble beginning of owner Morgan Marlowe’s father selling pumpkins off the back of his pickup truck. Eventually, the Marlowe family added the large, 4.5-acre corn maze and a half acre corn maze for smaller children. Now Oakhurst Farm boasts a hayride through an enclosed area filled with farm animals, a petting zoo, a hay bale jump, rubber duck races, a train ride and more. “We always try to add a little bit more every year,” said Marlowe. New this year is the Oakhurst Market where they sell locally grown and handmade items, including grass-fed, grain-finished beef. They’ve also given major facelifts to their most popular children’s attractions, the hay bale slides and barrel train rides by turning them into interactive tractors! The farm has plenty of fall crops as well. They not only grow and sell eight types of pumpkins for .50 per pound, they also sell Indian corn, decorative gourds, cotton, sunflowers, cut flowers and popcorn. You can also find straw, corn stalks and mums for sale. “Anything that’s fall and you can decorate with, we generally have,” said Marlowe.
Oakhurst Farm hosts plenty of field trips during the fall season. Schools, churches and senior centers can enjoy all the activities the farm has to offer and go home with their own miniature pumpkin. These educational outings teach attendees about agriculture and farm animals in a fun, hands-on way. If you are interested in seeing all Oakhurst Farm has to offer this fall, they are open to the public Saturdays 10AM-7PM and Sundays 1PM-7PM. Oakhurst has one price, an all-inclusive ticket of $10 per person. They offer a 20% discount which equals $8 per person to military, first responders, and groups of 10 or more. We also allow ages 2 and under in FREE, and ages 65 and older pay half price of regular admission at $5.
