Does your child have an interest in the medical field? Whether their appeal stems from a love for “Grey’s Anatomy” or a natural knack to care for people, Hughston’s Scrubs Camp will help explore medical career opportunities with hands-on experiences, tours, demonstrations and speakers. The camp provides a unique outlet for students to explore their passion in the medical field before deciding on a career path.
Provided with their own scrub top, camp-goers will delve into medical writing and medical illustration, radiology, surgery and more. Campers will be given the opportunity to speak with medical residents, scrub nurses, radiologists, surgical technologists and physical therapists to learn more about career expectations, training and opportunities for advancement. Students will be exposed to anatomy through dissection and arthroscopy equipment on a cadaver specimen with corresponding surgical videos provided.
The three-day camps are open to rising high-school freshmen through college sophomores who are interested in the medical field and especially for those who are interested in the fields that specialize in sports medicine. Due to the positive response to last year’s camp, there will be two sessions held this year: June 12-14 and July 17-19.Only thirty seats are available for each session. Registration is $200. It includes the camp experience, lunch, scrubs and giveaways. Housing is available through CSU for $20 a day per person.
